How we build these timetables
Last updated
Where the data comes from
- City and airport buses: the community BMTC GTFS feed. Routes, stops and timetables come from the “BMTC GTFS” feed published by Vonter on GitHub, under the Open Database License (ODbL-1.0). BMTC runs the buses. The feed is built from the official Namma BMTC app by a scraper, and its README notes that some individual contents of the database are under copyright by BMTC.
- What the feed covers. It includes only routes that have live tracking in the app, and its author describes its timetables as inaccurate. Treat every time here as the best scheduled data available, not as a promise.
- Airport buses. Airport routes come from the same feed. A route counts as an airport route when its code starts with “KIA-” or it serves an airport stop. Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) publishes the official Vayu Vajra route finder. We link to it as the reference to check against; we do not copy its content.
- Maps. When you open a map, the tile provider is named under it.
How the pages are built
- We download the feed on a schedule, validate it and compare it with the previous version. A new version goes live only after it passes those checks. Every route and stop page shows when the data was last updated.
- We present the facts in our own structure and words: stop lists, first and last bus, frequency bands and next departures.
- We may correct a stop name or hide a route that is clearly wrong. These corrections are made by hand.
- We do not show fares. They change, and a wrong fare is worse than none.
Scheduled, not live
Every time on this site is a scheduled time from the timetable. It is not a live bus position, and buses run early or late. For live positions, use the official Namma BMTC app.
- Next bus is the next scheduled departure after the current time. All times are India Standard Time (IST).
- Frequency splits the day into three-hour windows, counted from the first bus, and gives the shortest and longest gap between scheduled departures in each window.
- A time marked (next day) belongs to today’s service but runs after midnight.
Corrections
If something is wrong, tell us what you saw, where and when. We check every report against an official source before changing anything, and we never publish a report as it is.
